NEW FOR 2022
Do you already have a good grounding in Focusing?
If so, our 60 hour FOT course could be for you.
Our 60 hour Certificate in Focusing-Oriented Therapy course is available for qualified counsellors and psychotherapists who are registered with a professional body and who already have a good grounding in Focusing theory and practice (you will need to have completed a minimum of a substantial introductory course in Focusing, such as a BFA Focusing Skills course, a TIFI Proficiency in Focusing Partnership Award, a Focusing module on a counselling/ psychotherapy training course, or equivalent).
The course explores Focusing and deep listening from the context of therapy and will give you the confidence to integrate it safely into your therapeutic work with clients. On passing the course, you will be eligible to receive a certificate in Focusing-Oriented Therapy from The International Focusing Institute, New York (TIFI), and will be certified to practice as a Focusing-Oriented Therapist.
The course is largely experiential, giving plenty of opportunity to practise integrating Focusing in various ways into your counselling/ psychotherapy practice. The aim is to encourage participants to find their own individual style in the way they offer Focusing-Oriented Therapy to their clients.
This is an in-person course, open to a very small cohort of just 6 participants. It is delivered on six weekends over the duration of seven months.
There are two highly qualified and experienced TIFI-certified trainers present throughout the course, both of whom are BACP-registered Person-Centred Counsellors and Focusing-Oriented Therapists.
With two trainers and just six participants we are able to provide an exceptional holding experience that feels safe and supportive as you explore and deepen the practice of Focusing within your client work.
Training Space
Inner Focus is situated on the first floor of a period building on the main street passing through the small rural town of Long Stratton. There are shops, pubs and food outlets nearby. Click here> to see where we are.
Our main training room is homely and comfortable, enabling participants to relax and feel at ease in the group. We aim to create an atmosphere of warmth and safety where you can feel comfortable to share your own feelings and have your own personal processes, all whilst learning experientially about FOT.
In addition to this room, participants have use of a second room for working in dyads and triads.
We have lots of creative materials for when it comes to practising facilitating a Focusing process using body maps, art materials and sand tray.
There is a small kitchen and a WC onsite.

Meet the Trainers
Sara Bradly MA MBACP
Sara graduated from Kings College London in 1998 with a degree in Religious Studies which sparked a lifelong interest in spirituality, mindfulness and meditation. In 2010 she embarked on her counselling career, achieving her MA in Person-Centred Counselling from the University of East Anglia (UEA), in which she enjoyed conducting a research study on Focusing with children in schools. Following her graduation she worked for the university on the PG Diploma in Counselling, and was given the opportunity to work collaboratively on the UEA's PG Certificate in Focusing-Oriented Psychotherapy. Thirsty for further experience and learning in the field of Focusing Sara deepened her studies with Dr Greg Madison at the London Focusing Institute, and later pursued her passion for Children’s Focusing in the Netherlands where she learned from Réne Veugelers and Harriet Tweeu. Sara is currently a Focusing Trainer, a Children’s Focusing Trainer, and a Coordinator in Training (CiT) with The International Focusing Institute, New York (TIFI). She is the director of Inner Focus Limited and provides Focusing-Oriented Therapy to adults and children as well as delivering trainings and workshops in Focusing. Sara has presented Children's Focusing using body maps at the BACP CYP/F Conference in London 2020, and is the author of a chapter on Focusing with Children in 'Senses of Focusing', Volume 1, edited by Judy Moore and Nikolaos Kypriotakis (Eurasia Publications, Athens, 2021).
